A Special Place in Heaven (and a clean bathroom)

It is said that there is a special place in Heaven (and a clean bathroom) for the mother of boys. As the mother of four, Brandy has earned her crown.

Alexander Taylor Watkins was born at 2:14 pm on Wednesday, April 29. He weighs 8 lbs 5 oz, and is 20 inches long. His hair is honey blonde and his lips are so kissable!

Carey and Brandy are indeed blessed.

Late Night Acrobatics (Not What You Are Thinking)

Last week, Travis and I received a 4:30 am phone call. Since Carey and Brandy are due to deliver any minute we presumed that it was to announce a trip to the delivery room. Wrong.

Mother had gotten up around 2:00 am to use the bathroom, became disoriented, and fell. She tried to get back into bed but was unable to muster enough strength. She scooted around on her bottom for a while, dragging her 900 pound bedspread off the bed to the floor where she fashioned herself a nest of sorts....and there she waited. Two and a half hours to be exact - because she didn't want to wake us up too early. Hello??

When we arrived, Mother was in her nest sporting two of the largest black eyes you have ever seen. There is evidence in the bedroom that she fell twice - once breaking her leg and ankle, and the other hitting her nose. We are SO fortunate that she did not have any internal bleeding from the Coumadin she takes daily.

Surgery has repaired the broken bones in her leg and foot. She is in a cast with strict instructions to stay off the leg for 6 weeks. This isn't going to be easy for a woman who spends her days puttering in her flowerbeds.

Our family is strong and we will get through this but the next few months are going to be rough.

The Circle is Complete

Taylor and Mallory were married on April 11, in a lovely backyard wedding at the home of her grandmother, Patsy Allen. The bride and groom were beaming!

I now have three precious daughters-in-love!

Carey and his family, aka The Brady Bunch, came into town from Scott AFB, Illinois, for the occasion. It was wonderful having all my boys and their families together for the weekend.

After the wedding we convinced Jessica to let us bring Aiden and Landen home so they could visit a little longer with their Illinois cousins. Carey built a fort in the den where he and all five boys slept on the floor. Sunday morning the boys discovered that the Easter Bunny will find you even if you aren't at home.

On Sunday, Taylor and Mallory left for a Goat Island Honeymoon at our camper, The Brady Bunch headed north, and Zack and family joined us and the rest of the Horton's at Mother's house for Easter dinner. Rain forced the egg hunt indoors but that did not matter to the kids.

Everyone is exhausted from all the wedding activities, but it is that good kind of exhaustion that comes from being with the ones you love:-)
