Things That Go Bump in the Night

This is Mitchell.

He is our loving and affectionate Border Collie. Travis adopted him as a puppy from a sleazy trailer park on the outskirts of town. The sign advertised 'free Beagle puppies' and Travis knew little about Beagles.

Mitch will sit for hours with his head in your lap staring at you in total adoration. While I absolutely love this... it makes Travis totally crazy.

After we are in bed at night, Mitchell slinks around to my side and hops up next to me. He thinks Travis doesn't know what he's doing. OK, I said he was loving and affectionate, I didn't say he was smart.......actually, he is smart. Valedictorian of his obedience class - but that is another story.

One night Mitchell hopped up on the bed, flipped over on his back with all four legs straight up in the air, and proceeded to drift off into doggy dreams. Sometime during the night, when Travis and I were sound asleep, Mitchell rolled to his left but miscalculated how close he was to the edge of the bed. He rolled off the bed onto my nightstand, clearing it completely of a lamp, glass of water, and assorted jars of potions that make me look youthful. The noise he made, in the dead of night, sent us both sitting bolt upright in the bed.

I guess you had to be there.....
